I have been involved in the breed my whole life, growing up with shelties around me has been a privilege which I hope I always have. Lucky for me my great grandparents Hugh and Doris bred and showed both Shelties and Rough Collies, they encouraged me to become involved in the shows and gradually built me up to be part of the kennel. At the age of 6 in enjoyed junior handling with a little bitch called Sassy, this continued for a number of years until I was given her daughter Blondie to be my own. I progressed with Blondie by my side to exhibiting in the breed ring and worked my way up to the Championship show ring! I loved Blondie and our successes together, winning multiple BOB's and Group wins and placements over the years. When I was 12 I campaigned my granddads dog Brad to his title- the first Champion for the kennel - Ch Degallo The Hustler. The next year we lost Hugh, sadly he never seen the success that was to end in Blondie becoming CH & IR CH Degallo Blonde Babe ShCM.
I began breeding shortly after this, with the kennel name in my own right. I have enjoyed some fantastic achievements in the ring since then The 3rd Champion for the kennel, Fergus accompanied me to both the World Show where he was World Junior Winner and winner of the Dog CAC and the European Winners Show where he was CACIB winner and BOB. I have won CAC's in both Norway and Sweden with various dogs exported by ourselves over the years and these experiences are something I am grateful to have been a part of. Back home I was lucky enough to win my first CC with a dog I bred, with Blaze and at Crufts no less, a real day to remember. I then campaigned Fergus' daughter Cassie to her Ch Title and while I was doing this took 5CC's and 10RCC's with my own boy Oliver (bred by myself)! His son, at Rowancrest kennel is my 2nd bred Champion and I hope there will be more success stories to follow. I have had the privilege of judging some beautiful dogs over the years as I go along this journey towards giving CC's....which seems to be a long one, having first judged some 13 years ago!
I have balanced education and home life over the years which have possibly slowed down this process. Having tried 3 different universities I finally decided to go to collage and qualify as a Beauty and Massage Therapist. I have also managed to squeeze in a wedding and 3 children, Jayden (7), Chantelle (6) and Jacob (9months) who are a great help with the dogs (perhaps not Jacob). Hopefully some of them will share my interests in the coming years and can meet some of the wonderful people that are out there in this doggy world.
